Helping Older Students Who Struggle With Reading (Online)

Often general education teachers who work with middle school and high school students who struggle with reading are looking for ideas on how to help. This course provides an overview of reading difficulties and how to help older students. Major topics include reading basics, higher level reading instruction using morphology, and accommodations. Strategies are shared for infusing reading instruction into all classes. Online assignments will include viewing recorded lessons, viewing and reflecting on videos, researching articles, writing reflections, and online discussion forums.
