Features of Effective Math Instruction: Part 1 (RESP)

$50The Features of Effective Math Instruction Part 1 workshop is for teachers, school administrators, instructional coaches, and ND REA staff.
Participants will explore the following elements of research-based mathematics instruction: Explicit, systematic instruction with modeling; Multiple opportunities to practice and respond; Immediate and corrective feedback; Cumulative mixed review; and Procedural skill and fluency.
Following the study of these elements, participants will analyze their current math textbook using the Textbook Effective Math Instruction Scoring Rubric to determine current curriculum’s strengths and weaknesses and apply knowledge gained in the Features of Effective Math Instruction workshop to address identified weaknesses in textbook.
Objectives:
Investigate features of effective instruction through research and practice
Examine relationships between effective teaching and learning
Connect the features of effective instruction to the MTSS framework
Analyze current math textbook/resources for features of effective instruction
Construct plans to strengthen math instruction in our classrooms
PRESENTER: Kaye Andersen, Math Instructional Coach & Education Consultant (WERC).
DELIVERY: This opportunity will be delivered over 2-full day consecutive days Face-to-Face.
AUDIENCE: Elementary & Secondary Classroom Teachers, Instructional Coaches, Administrators.
