Ascend Sexual Risk Avoidance Specialist Certificaiton

Sexual Risk Avoidance is an educational approach based on the public health model of primary prevention to empower youth to avoid ALL the risks of sexual activity, in order to achieve optimum Health. Educators must intentionally work to build the internal and external assets of the students they serve so youth are more able and confident to make healthy decisions that avoid the risks associated with teen sex. Sexual risk avoidance education employs evidence-based methods that are proven to help students not only avoid teen sex, but also to improve the likelihood that youth will enjoy life success. Therefore, sex education should focus on sexual delay, preferably until marriage. Why? Because the health of youth translates into the health of adults – and families – and our nation. In an increasingly competitive world, it is important that professionals in every career maintain the highest level of knowledge and skill in their areas of expertise. Ascend’s Sexual Risk Avoidance (SRA) Certification Program offers a comprehensive, professional designation recognizing individuals who wish to or are currently involved in offering SRA education at the school and community levels. Ascend’s Sexual Risk Avoidance Specialist (SRAS) Certification program is the elite professional development training for the SRA field.
