Training 1: Supporting Language Development, Birth to Age Five (Group A)
August 31 @ 8:00 am - September 18 @ 11:30 pmFree
The first training in the series will focus on the beginning stages of language and literacy. The training will look at the progression of a child’s language from infancy through age five and the critical role that the adult and the environment play in this development. As well as the exploration of children’s early experience with communication, speaking and hearing vocabulary, and the role this plays in a child’s emerging literacy skills. The more children know about language and literacy before they arrive at school, the better equipped they are to succeed in reading. This three-week interactive training will be conducted as an online platform with one Zoom call built-in during week 2 of the training. The one-hour Zoom call will allow participants to collaborate and interact with one another, building a supportive environment for early childhood professionals to share their understandings and ideas of a child’s development of language and literacy.
