CCUSR Annual Safety Conference
August 15 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pmFree
Option #1: Options-Based Lockdown Training
This training is an opportunity for substitute or new staff to learn the concepts associated with options-based lockdown (also known as run-hide-fight or ALICE), and actually practice them with peers. There will be 90 minutes of classroom instruction, coupled with approximately 90 minutes of hands-on practice.
Option #2: Additional Safety Considerations for Special Education Students
Each year, CCUSR undertakes one large project. The project for 2018-19 was refining emergency response plans to more appropriately address the needs of all students by filling gaps in current plans. To do this, we will engage with parents during the child’s annual IEP or 504 meeting to review the student’s response skills and establish a plan that clarifies their needs during a crisis. Internally, buildings will be creating a site-based systematic approach to assist their special populations during a crisis. The plan that is developed with parent input will be shared with people that are critical to the child’s safety. This session will roll-out the concepts and sample documents for the refined edition of the CCUSR Emergency Operations Plan. You will also hear from staff that participated in the pilot program at West Fargo High School.
